Encounters of Hope - Art with a Purpose
Hello?  Is anyone still out there?  It has been so very long since I touched the keys on my laptop to write here and post any new art, (practically three years to date) but if there are any humans out there still waiting on me . . .  I've begun a new series of canvases for a cause called Encounters of Hope, which I will post here tomorrow.  My daughter is part of a dance company called CHADDAH - the last 8 months has been full of rehearsals leading up to the month of February for them to dance to bring awareness to human trafficking.  It was tremendous.  These young ladies dance with such emotion to share real-life stories of 6 girls trafficked in India whom the director knows personally.  They are heartbreaking stories, some end well, some still have no ending.  This is modern day slavery in it's ugliest of forms - and it happens all over the world as well as in EVERY CITY IN AMERICA.  Let that sink in.  As I watched these girls rehearse and then ultimately perform, I was touched deep inside me to DO SOMETHING.  If you are ever able to see this show, or would like them to come to your city to perform, please contact Amy Pernie, (info is at the end of the promo video below) who is the owner of In His Steps Dance School here in Pensacola, FL.  She started the Chaddah Dance Company as a Pre-Professional Dance group that would perform anywhere we are welcome to bring awareness to human trafficking and try to light a fire under us all to do something about it.  I know it sounds like a huge undertaking and you wonder what in the world could you possibly do, but if we all did our "little something" it can turn into a huge something that just might stop this horrific industry.  Stop the porn.  Stop the sex outside of marriage.  Stop being selfish and using other people for your own personal pleasure.  It starts with you.  Do something.

This year's performance was incredible. Each year it's a little bit different and always heartbreaking. It's supposed to be. It's supposed to change you. Make you think about it everyday afterward. I know I do.
